Coldplay and the unknown surprises...

They say that they have surprises ready to be released! What could it be? :O

Coldplay have promised their new album will surprise people, claiming the record is "different" and may alienate some fans.

The group are understood to be nearing completion on the follow-up to "X&Y", which has been produced by Brian Eno.

Speaking in a new interview, Chris Martin and Johnny Buckland said the group decided to explore their freedom with the currently untitled LP.

Guitarist Buckland explained: "We felt like the first three albums were a trilogy, and we finished that. So we wanted to do something different."

Meanwhile, singer Martin continued: "Whether or not it's good, we certainly started to use more colours. It's impossible to please everybody, and it took us a while to learn that.

"It's just the freedom to say, 'Everyone might not like this. We're into it at the moment, so let's just get it done.'"

There is currently no release date for the album, although it is due for release in 2008.
