Undiscovered Canada

When thinking about Canada, which is the first place that comes to your mind? I guess that it will definitely be a famous city but the truth is that all the specialists claim that the best things to be seen in Canada are far from those cities and waiting to be discovered by the few who have the courage to do it. Read the msnbc.com article below and discover more about it:

"

Some of the most compelling places in Canada may never top a “best of” list, or even rate much of an entry in a guidebook. But the fact that lesser known destinations such as British Columbia’s Gulf Islands, with their bucolic setting and Mediterranean-like climate, don’t pull in the crowds the way that Banff or Niagara Falls do, can make them even more enticing.

“It’s the discovery of something unexpected — and extraordinary — in some of the most unlikely places that brings people back,” explains Carla Mont from Tourism B.C.

Popular tourist destinations are just that — well known and often over appreciated. But award-winning travel writer Amy Rosen says some of her best travel experiences have happened when she’s headed into the unknown, “I look at a map, find a place I’ve never been and then I look closer.”

Rosen says she discovered one of her favorite Canadian places after a floatplane journey into the heart of the Yukon’s Ruby Range Mountains took her to the secluded Tincup Wilderness Lodge. “It had everything — beautiful scenery, amazing food, quirky characters ...”

Rosen says it’s the people who can make remote places interesting, “Everyone has something to say. They love where they live and want to show it off.”

Canada welcomes more than 17 million visitors a year. But with 90 percent of Canada's population living within 100 miles of the U.S. border, most visitors don’t venture very far into the hinterlands. Part of a visitor’s challenge is choosing where to go in the vast 3,851,809 square mile country. But the other challenge seems to be going home again once they’ve found that special place.

Traveling to New Jersey

As a traveler who loves to discover new places and explore the old cities that I know from the past, the truth is that I love to travel all around the US and taking the most out of every state that I decide to visit with my family.

This summer, I will be traveling to New Jersey and I have already spent some hours trying to find the best New Jersey attractions on the Internet but also by contacting travel agencies. Moreover, as I am extremely excited with this Jersey Shore beach vacation I really can’t wait for the summer to come! As a matter of fact, even my older son is extremely excited with this travel as he will be able to enjoy the New Jersey water parks but also the upcoming Radio Disney Summer Concert Series being held in Wildwood, New Jersey, at Morey’s Piers starting in June going through August which are completely free! What else could we really ask for? Just take the opportunity of enjoying all the concerts while also enjoying your stay in New Jersey! If you need some important and relevant advice on Hotels and many other important aspects of your travel, then you definitely need to have a look at the website to which I have linked above.

Watching the Winter Games live!

Have you always wanted to see the Winter Games live? Even if that's not one of your dreams you may still want to do it and take the opportunity to discover Vancouver a bit more! Below is part of another msnbc.com article giving you important advice on transportation, tickets, etc:

"

For tickets and accommodations, this is shaping up to be a particularly challenging Olympics.

Whether it's Vancouver, B.C.'s stunning setting, easy accessibility or the growing popularity of winter sports, Vancouver 2010 has been selling beyond expectations, according to Tourism Vancouver ... and many of you. But as we researched answers to Reader Questions About Visiting Vancouver During the Olympics, we dug up some good news.

Tickets
Readers such as Ross and klbears wanted to know how to buy non-package tickets in advance. We feel your pain. I ndividual tickets went on sale May 14 via CoSport, which essentially has a monopoly on selling Olympic tickets in the U.S.

Purchasing through CoSport is a way to insure that your tickets are legit and that you're not paying a fat markup to a scalper. But of course scalpers and other resellers will be out in full force later this year! If you go the resold-tickets route, know that you have more protection against deceit by using established online resellers like StubHub and TicketsNow.

And keep an open mind. If you can't get tickets, all is not lost. "This will be the biggest party that's ever hit Canada," says Emery, citing massive light shows, live bands, public art and other amazing-sounding official events. Then, there are always the unofficial ones. Vancouver will be a rich, wonderful, exciting place to be next February.

Lodging
Luckily, one of these challenges — sold-out accommodations — is partly a myth. A few of you — Megan Greve, M.O. Nichols, and Ross — wrote to bemoan the lack of hotel rooms in Vancouver, due to media blocks, minimum stays, and so forth. But lodging is actually in abundance, just not in traditional form.

"At this point, traditional hotel accommodation is unavailable. But there are alternatives, such as cruises, B&Bs, home and condo rentals, and hotel rooms in outer-lying areas. A commute to an event or venue should be expected as a normal part of an Olympic day," says Katie Emery, at Tourism Vancouver, who cites the two-hour-plus commutes of many Athletes' Villages in the past as proof that it can be done.
