The important role played by movies

When you watch a movie do you normally tend to pay attention to the social evolution present on them? If that's the case, then you won't be amazed with the msnbc.com article that you may read just below and where it is described how a new movie will positively affect the tourism on the area:

"

MILWAUKEE - John Dillinger: America's most notorious criminal or Robin Hood of the Great Depression?

It doesn't matter to the Wisconsin Department of Tourism, which wants people to visit Wisconsin locales related to his gang's time here in the 1930s and the movie filmed in the state, "Public Enemies." It stars Johnny Depp as Dillinger.

The movie doesn't open until July 1 but Wisconsin, Indiana, Illinois and Arizona are readying for the onslaught of attention related to the film, which features Dillinger's escapades through those states.

Discovering the best restaurants in the country

So, would you like to know which the best restaurants in the USA are? If that's something that you have always wanted to know, then you should definitely have a look at the msnbc.com article just below and take your own conclusions:

"

By Anya von Bremzen and Soren Larson

You know the American restaurant paradigm is shifting when communal benches become more desirable than leather banquettes. When humble kimchi is suddenly chic, and the words local and seasonal are recited as routinely as fried or sautéed. At a time of economic difficulty and changing consumer tastes for both food and décor, we crisscrossed the country in search of outstanding new restaurants with a very different mind-set.

We gravitated toward spots that offered us warmth and a sense of human connection, and greeted the opening of a neighborhood noodle parlor or artisanal sandwich shop with an enthusiasm formerly reserved for high-concept eating destinations. In Chicago, a delicious take on Korean street food is dished out at Urbanbelly, an inexpensive joint with four communal tables that is generating enormous enthusiasm among dumpling lovers in the Windy City. At San Francisco’s Sentinel, a tiny downtown sandwich spot, the once-tired standard of a quick lunch is being transformed into an aesthetic masterpiece.

And yet, for all the populist gastropubs and wood-fired-pizza parlors, a world without culinary ambition would be a sad one indeed.

My holidays in the farm

When I am not traveling all around the world and decide to remain in the country, I tend to choose my old farm in Massachusetts as my favorite destination. In fact, I love the peace and quiet that you are able to find in the middle of the green fields.

Still, there are also many unexpected surprises that you are likely to face when you decide to go to such places. Personally, I would refer to wild animals as the main cause of unexpected events while I am having a good time on the farm. As a matter of fact, I have had many problems with squirrels in the past as they tend to infiltrate in my house while also leaving a horrendous stink smell in the places where they pass through! Moreover, sometimes they even infiltrate in the electrical wiring and really damage it causing many undesired secondary effects on your own holidays! Keeping this in mind, if you regularly deal with problems related to squirrels then you definitely need to have a look at these squirrel repellents so that you can have a much more precise idea of how you can easily keep them away, making sure that your holidays and your house are secure from any unpleasant situation caused by these animals.

Discovering Sicily

When you think about the places that you would like to visit in Europe, does Sicily come to your mind as one of your favorite ones? If you would love to visit Sicily, then the msnbc.com article below will really come in handy for you:

"

By Giovanna Dell'orto

MONREALE, Italy - I am inside one of the most glittering monuments to Christianity — the mosaic-filled cathedral of Monreale — talking to a conservator, whose apron is covered in Arabic script, about President Obama.

As our chat about possible new American policies in the Middle East interrupts his excruciatingly slow restoration of the Duomo's 900-year-old floor mosaic, I can't help thinking, only in Sicily.

Throughout its 2.5 millennia of history, this jarringly gorgeous Mediterranean island has been at the crossroads of drastically different cultures. Miraculously, it has managed to fuse those contrasts in a peaceful dialogue. The fruits of that fusion make Sicily one of the most intriguing regions of Europe.

Twice over the last decade, I have done weeklong tours of the island, marveling at everything from Catholic chapels bejeweled by Muslim artists to the everyday heroism of anti-Mafia businesses. A visit to Sicily is a study in the unexpected fusion of times and cultures. And these are a few of my favorite pairings:

Multicultural devotions: Bleary-eyed from the overnight ferry that took me from Naples to Palermo, Sicily's capital, I made a beeline for the Cappella Palatina, the chapel built in the early 1100s by the Norman king in his palace complex. At 8:30 a.m., I had it for myself for a blissful few minutes before the tourist buses arrived, enough to be transported by the glitters of gold chasing each other from the wall mosaics into the painted kaleidoscope that is the carved wooden ceiling.

Under the patronage of Sicily's first Catholic king, Muslim artists executed the ceiling, complete with Kufic inscriptions, while Greek artists created mosaics representing Christ and New Testament scenes in the Byzantine tradition. Straight from the era of the crusades comes the most dazzling artistic and cultural synthesis of the medieval Mediterranean world. Nobody knows exactly how this harmony came about, but it's both inspiring and humbling to feel they had figured out a way to live symbiotically despite differences we are still struggling with 900 years later.

Other can't-miss glories of the Palermo area from the time of the Normans are the fortress-looking churches that hide eerily realistic golden mosaics: The Monreale Duomo, perched high on a barren, prickly-pear studded mountain; the Martorana church in Palermo, across from the mosque-looking, red-domed church of San Cataldo; and the Cathedral at Cefalu, standing sentinel over the medieval fishing village.

Antiquity alive: Ancient Greek colonizers snapped up the best vistas in Sicily. I can't decide if the most scenic archeological site in the Mediterranean is Segesta in its splendid valley isolation among pines and honey-scented wildflowers; Selinunte, framed by eucalypti on its Africa-facing sandy shores; the Taormina theater opening over the sea and the volcano, Mount Etna; or Agrigento's Valley of Temples, by sheer size the most stunning of them all. I like the latter best in the late afternoon, when the wind-eroded stone of its two best-preserved 450 B.C. Greek temples — the nearly intact Tempio della Concordia and the Tempio di Giunone up the ridge — turn strawberry gold in the dusk and then are floodlit among the dark silhouettes of olive trees and agave plants.

Much criticism has been aimed at the ugly concrete buildings from modern Agrigento looming over the next hillcrest, but I find the contrast can't possibly spoil this view. At most, I find it shames our modern cookie-cutter architecture juxtaposed to the hushed, solemn perfection of these temples.

"

The importance of franchising

Even though I am a traveler, the truth is that I also have a vast knowledge in what relates to businesses and how you can boost the profits of your own company. In fact, I would say that franchising is probably one of the best ways of making major profit if you want a simple business where you are not the one directly promoting the whole company.

Keeping this in mind, if you would like to know more about franchising and if you would also like the possibility of finding the perfect Franchise solution for you, then you definitely need to have a look at the website above and see with your own eyes how you could really improve your life by introducing the franchising concept in your life as a businessman.

Trying the best wines

Have you always wanted to try the best wines that you are able to find all around the world? Would you also like to know a bit more about them? If that's the case, then you definitely need to have a look at the at the article just below, which can be found on msnbc.com if you decide to visit the source:

"

By Edward Deitch
Wine columnist

After attending a new media conference at New York City’s Time Warner Center the other night, a couple of friends invited me to join them for a glass of wine. Within a few minutes we were walking into Clo, which, I quickly realized, is one of the cooler wine bars in New York or just about anywhere.

For me, Clo provided a seamless continuation of the evening’s theme in that it merges the digital world with the wine world. It also reminded me that when it comes to expanding your knowledge of the grape, a good wine bar can help you do so in a thoroughly enjoyable and stimulating way.

About the name: Clo is a takeoff on the French word “clos,” which refers to an enclosed or walled-off vineyard, usually in Burgundy. And Clo, which was started seven months ago by a well-known sommelier, Andrew Bradbury, is basically four walls itself, a narrow, pop-up space in a corridor on one of the tower’s lower retail floors. The room is dominated by a long, rectangular communal table where just about everyone sits. The first thing you realize is that there is no bar here, and no bartenders behind a bar whose attention you have to compete for to get your hands on the wine list and then a glass of wine.

At Clo, the table itself serves as the main wine list. Embedded in the surface is a series of 10 interactive touch screens. These screens display a horizontal lineup of bottle images that blow up when you drag them over a certain spot and reveal notes on the wine you’ve highlighted. It’s wine gone virtual, at least to a point.

It helps if you’ve practiced the touch-screen technique on an iPhone or other leading-edge device, and since I still click around on a late-model BlackBerry it took me a while to get used to it. In any event, the three of us eventually landed on wines we thought we’d like. In the process, one of Clo’s roving and very helpful young sommeliers handed each of us a glass and a plastic card not unlike the kind you use to open your door in a hotel. Only in this case the card is your key to going from the virtual wine world to the real thing and satisfying your (by now) almost parched palate.

"

DENVER - A man accused of telling an off-duty Northwest Airlines pilot that he had explosives in his carry-on bag was sentenced to four years probation for making false threats.

Federal investigators said the Northwest Airlines plane was backing away from a gate at Denver International Airport last year when 56-year-old Mark Randall Rayborn grabbed his bag and told the pilot seated next to him that he had five pounds of explosives that security screeners had missed.

The flight was delayed for four hours as bomb-sniffing dogs searched the plane and the 140 passengers were screened again.

Investigators said Rayborn was drunk at the time he made the statement. He was sentenced in federal court Monday.

Snakes on a plane?

As you probably have already seen on cinema, there is a famous movie by the name of "Snakes on a plane" in which an amazing number of pythons menace the passengers. Still, this is what recently happened in Australia but fortunately they were still baby pythons and only four of them... Below is the msnbc.com article telling you the whole story:

"

MELBOURNE, Australia - Four baby pythons escaped from a container aboard a passenger plane in Australia, leading to a search that forced the cancellation of two flights, the airline said Thursday.

Twelve non-venomous Smitten pythons were being transported Tuesday on a flight from Alice Springs to Melbourne in the plane's cargo area in a bag inside a plastic foam box with air holes.

When the flight landed, it was discovered that four snakes had escaped from the package, a Qantas spokeswoman said in a statement.

A reptile expert searched for the 6-inch-long snakes but did not find them. It was not known if the snakes were still on the plane or if they had somehow escaped outside after the plane landed.

In the meantime, the plane missed two flights it had been scheduled to fly and the passengers were transferred to other flights.

When the snakes were not found, the airplane was fumigated and it returned to service on Wednesday.

Pythons, which can grow up to three feet long, live in western and central Australia and are not an endangered species.

Would you love to meet some cowboys?

Many people tend to believe that the true American lies within every cowboy that you are able to find on the West. Still, have you ever meet any of those cowboys? Would you really like to make your trip more valuable by meeting some of them? If that's the case, then you definitely need to read the msnbc.com article just below:

"

By David Farley

For centuries the brawniest and bravest have been lured to the American West.

Cowboys and their oft-portrayed archenemies, Indians, etched a near mythological landscape into our minds that we have yet to shake. The cacti-studded desert, virgin forest-blanked hills, and jagged mountain peaks sit under an overly spacious sky while plus-sized packs of buffalo and larger-than-life mammals roam the vast emptiness.

A lot has changed since those heady days, but many remnants of this much romanticized culture remain. The question is: Where does one get the best of the West? Where are the dude ranches, verdant national parks, untrammeled deserts, one-horse towns, and, if you’re lucky, a few cowboys?

“Movies have really contributed to our romance of the West,” says David Scott, who, along with his wife, Kay Scott, penned the popular book “The Complete Guide to the National Parks.” “They’ve portrayed these [Westerners] as brave risk-taking people who did things that people today can only dream about.”

It’s no surprise that the Scotts’ favorite destinations in the West represent this bucolic, yet sometimes difficult life of yore. The Triangle X Lodge in Wyoming is one of their favorite western destinations list for its uniqueness and its authentic rustic feel. “It’s the only dude ranch in a national park,” says David Scott, referring to Grand Teton National Park. Best of all, guests get their very own horse. “They organize daily itineraries that include you and the horse,” Kay Scott adds. “And then when it’s time dinner time, they ring a bell and you leave your private cabin and everyone eats together.”

Samantha Brown knows a thing or two about capturing the Old West spirit. The host of the popular Travel Channel show, “Passport to Great Weekends,” Brown has criss-crossed the region several times and never fails to come back with a philosophical outlook. “When you travel abroad, it’s easy to look at the U.S. and say you’re such a young country,” says Brown. “But geologically, it’s a billion years old. I just get so much strength from looking at the mountains and trees and the landscape. It’s all so unbelievably overpowering and makes you realize that who we are as Americans goes much farther back than we think.”

Some spring events that may menace travelers

As an increasing number of people plan to travel while the spring still has a lot to offer, the truth is that many of us are already on holidays and don't know what to expect on the destination that we have choosen... Keeping this in mind, reading the msnbc.com article below may really come in handy as the ultimate way of being up-to-date with what may happen during your trip:

"

DENVER - A spring storm was weakening after dumping up to 3 feet of snow on the foothills west of Denver — stranding hundreds of people in shelters and forcing the closure of an 80-mile stretch of Interstate 70.

Transportation officials shut down I-70 between Vail and Golden in the late afternoon Friday because of wet, heavy snow and multiple accidents.

The American Red Cross opened a second shelter in Idaho Springs late Friday after its first shelter there filled to capacity with more than 300 people, said Jim Rettew, a spokesman for the organization's Mile High Chapter.

The stranded travelers didn't all get cots, but many got snacks, and most were in good spirits, he said.

"Some are trying to sleep, some are talking, some are eating, some are on the phone," Rettew said. "When this kind of thing happens, everyone just makes the best in trying circumstances."

The Colorado National Guard escorted a caravan of volunteers and supplies to the shelters after Clear Creek County declared an emergency and asked for state assistance. County officials were working to set up one or two more shelters in Georgetown.

It was unclear when the interstate would reopen. The spring storm had dumped up to 3 feet of snow on the foothills by Friday night but was starting to weaken, forecasters said.

The area was expected to see only another 2 to 5 inches through noon Saturday, said meteorologist Frank Cooper of the National Weather Service's Boulder office.

"It's very, very hard to speculate as to when traffic is going to be allowed back on the road," Colorado Department of Transportation spokesman Fritz Homann said early Saturday. "There seems to be a lull in the storm, but whether the second wave comes in as advertised will be anybody's guess."

Homann added that some motorists were still stuck on I-70 at Hidden Valley early Saturday, but crews were working hard to get them out.

"This is a big storm, but it is a spring storm in the Colorado Rockies, and that is something that CDOT has dealt with before," he said. "We have all our resources poised and ready to go."

Winter storm warnings across the state were expected to last until midday Saturday, with an additional 1 to 3 inches possible in the metro area and along the Front Range, the weather service said.

Power outages, canceled flights
On Friday, heavy, wet snow closed highways, canceled flights, caused power outages and forced school closures in parts of Colorado and Wyoming. Snow accumulations of 3 to 4 feet were recorded in the mountains, with 4 to 6 inches measured in Denver.

United Airlines, the dominant carrier at Denver International Airport, canceled 76 flights. The airport urged travelers to check with their airlines before leaving home.

Numerous traffic accidents were reported across Colorado, and Trooper Gilbert Mares of the State Patrol said he knew of one fatality. He said a person was killed late Friday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash on Colorado 52 in Weld County, near Fort Lupton. Details on the victim were not immediately available.

"

CAMBRIDGE BAY, Nunavut - A man aboard a small passenger plane fought to push open the aircraft's door at 23,000 feet over northern Canada and leaped to his death, forcing the pilot to make an emergency landing with the door ajar, police said Thursday.

The Adlair Aviation plane with two pilots and two passengers was flying from Yellowknife to Cambridge Bay, a community in western Nunavut, when the man jumped Wednesday night, said Staff Sgt. Harold Trupish of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

The Beechcraft King Air 200 twin-turboprop was about 110 miles (180 kilometers) from the Cambridge Bay airport when the man jumped, he said. Police were searching for the body of the 20-year-old, whose name was not released.

Trupish said the pilots reported the passenger became unruly and they struggled to keep him from pushing the door open and leaping out.

"The plane came in with the door open," he said. "Somehow they were able to control the aircraft to land. The three other people are all OK."

Paul Laserich, general manager of the small family-owned airline that has operated in the Canadian north for more than 25 years, praised the pilots for getting the plane and their remaining passenger down safely with frigid Arctic air roaring into the cabin through the opening.

"They brought the ship safely back. Everybody is OK. They are a little shaken up. They are OK. That is what is most important," Laserich said.

He said the pilot was too distressed to talk to reporters.

STRATFORD, Conn. - In a waterfront industrial area near the Bridgeport line, the trucks keep dumping trash and the school buses keep dumping children.

Eight-year-old Matt Carlucci is in awe as soon as he walks through the front door of The Garbage Museum, confronted immediately by a colorful, 12-foot-tall dinosaur made out of junk. "Trash-o-saurus" resembles something out of the animated movie "Robots."

Pennsylvania sculptor Leo Sewell, who grew up near a dump, fashioned the 24-foot-long piece out of old "no parking" signs, cell phones, shoes, license plates, sunglasses, plastic toys and anything else he could get his hands on. Visitors are given a list of things to find on the dinosaur, and it's no easy feat.

"It's pretty cool," Matt said during a trip with his third-grade class from Sherman, Conn., on a recent Friday. "All the garbage on it, how big it is and how much it weighs."

The sculpture is 2,000 pounds, representing the average amount of garbage and recyclables each person in Connecticut discards each year. Like all the exhibits, "Trash-o-saurus" was designed with the goal of teaching how important recycling is.

The museum opened in 1993 at the Connecticut Resources Recovery Authority's recycling center in Stratford, "before 'green' was cool," a fact sheet says. About 32,200 people visited the museum and took part in its off-site programs last year, a record.

"We don't know of any other museums dedicated to garbage and recycling in the country," said Paul Nonnenmacher, a spokesman for the CRRA, a quasi-public state trash agency.

The importance of recycling
The agency also operates a sister facility, The Trash Museum, in Hartford that drew more than 27,000 people last year.

Educators at the Stratford museum are preparing for upcoming Earth Day programs, but they consider every day to be Earth Day.

"What's exciting is the kids go home and tell their parents what they can recycle, said Sotoria Montanari, the museum's education supervisor.

While the dinosaur sculpture is popular, children have just as much fun in the viewing area over the center's sorting area, Montanari said. Trucks dump recyclables from 20 area towns, to the tune of 60,000 tons a year.

Huge piles of plastic bottles look made to jump into. Stacks of newspapers and cardboard fill another area. An assembly line of workers sorts the materials, which are crushed and sold as commodities to produce new products. Some buyers even make carpets and fleece jackets out of the recycled plastic, which can be turned into fibers.

Back down a flight of stairs near the dinosaur, children can play in a general store complete with a cash register, old cereal boxes and other reusable items.

An exhibit with stacked soda cans shows how making aluminum out of recycled materials creates 95 percent less air pollution and 97 percent less water pollution than mining bauxite.

Visitors can walk through the tunnel of a big, brown and plastic "composting pile" that has fake worms, bugs and pieces of fruits and vegetables sticking out of it. Educator Robin Bennett can show you a real composting pile, and how a special kind of worm eats the garbage and converts it into what looks like dirt. (Reality check: the "dirt" is mostly worm poop.)

The "Trash Bash" activity imprisons helmet-wearing contestants behind chain-link fence doors and makes them answer questions. If the answer is wrong, others are given the green light to dump trash on them from an overhead opening.

There are also art exhibits made from reusable stuff, including a life-size mannequin made from crushed and colored milk containers strung together with pipe cleaners.

And everything in the museum is cleaned once a year by a special cleaning company, Nonnenmacher said.

Where garbage goes
It all makes for a fun hour or two, but visitors say they also walk away with new knowledge and appreciation.

"You can see where all the garbage goes," said 10-year-old fifth-grader Brooke Hiatt of Milford. "You can see how and where it goes and the process of recycling stuff. I've learned that recycling is better than just wasting. If you waste, you can pollute your environment."

Some CRRA trash trivia:

  • The average American throws away 3.5 pounds of trash a day.
  • Americans throw out 2.5 million plastic bottles every hour.
  • The average American uses 650 pounds of paper a year.
  • 1,500 aluminum cans are recycled every second in the United States.

Looming over all the good things at the museum is the chance it might have to close this year because of money problems. The recycling plant's long-term contracts with buyers just happen to be expiring June 30, at a time when commodity prices have plummeted because of the bad economy.

Museum officials have launched fundraising efforts, including a public call for donations and the selling of recycled glass tiles for $50 apiece that can be personalized before being placed in a dinosaur wall mural.

The importance of innovation

Even though I am a traveler who does everything possible to spend some weekends in a foreign country, the truth is that I am also a business man. As a matter of fact, I run a small company that deals with advertising and marketing for other companies, meaning that it is extremely important that I always show innovation and creativity on everything that my company presents to the clients.

Keeping this in mind, apart from the technical areas of my work and all the other important concepts, showing innovation in everything is extremely relevant and I recently impressed all my clients with the presentation of the customized checks that you can find on the link above, meaning that you can add your personal touch to the checks too! This means that checks will also play a role as advertising “cards”, giving your business an even more professional look. Personally, I would personalize these checks to be used as personal checks by adding the American flag to the background of the check and I would also add a small “gold coin” icon to the checks as these two things mean a lot to me. In fact, I am really proud of being American plus I will never forget the first gold coin that I have received from my family when I was a small kid. How would you customize your own checks?

So, would you also like to add your personal touch to the business or personal checks that you use on a daily basis? If that’s the case, then you definitely need to take some of your time to have a look at the website to which I have linked just above and see how VistaPrint services can really come in handy when you decide to bring some innovation to your checks or any other printed papers that you may tend to deal with regularly.

Have you ever tried the amazing Tokyo restaurants?

Are you a food lover who always tries almost everything you find on the city? Well, I am one of those persons and I really seem to love to try different food and cocktails... Keeping this in mind, below is another msnbc.com article which will give you an idea of how you it all works and where you should definitely go:

"

NEW YORK - Tokyo is the hottest city for food lovers for a second consecutive year because of its abundance of innovative restaurants and superb ingredients, according to a U.S. food magazine.

Barcelona came in second, followed by Copenhagen, London and New York in Food & Wine Magazine's fourth annual list of top cities to go for cutting-edge cuisine and vibrant food scenes.

"Tokyo is the best food city hands down," Jen Murphy, the magazine's travel editor, said. "That's where chefs are going for innovations. There's also a history of food traditions. They are so far ahead of us."

All the top cities on the list offer "fantastic food at all price points," Murphy added.

In a surprise move, Paris with its abundance of Michelin-star restaurants fell off the list after placing second last year.

While this was not a slam against French cuisine, which remains top-notch, Murphy explained, "Right now, there's no new excitement to the food scene there."

The global dining scene, meanwhile, has been adversely affected by the economic downturn. For example, Moscow was in contention for a spot on the magazine's list this year, but it dropped out of the running as the Russian economy soured, according to Murphy.

While diners may be eating out less, chefs around the world are still creating dishes with unusual ingredients.

"There will always be die-hard foodies who will fly to Copenhagen to taste them," Murphy said.

Travel with style for less money

Unlike most people seem to think at first, the truth is that now it is definitely the best moment for all the travelers to enjoy the trip that they have always dreamed with as the economy is now making it absolutely mandatory that airlines and travel agencies lower their prices in order to continue to attract costumers. Keeping this in mind, I would like you to read the msnbc.com article just below and see how you can definitely take the most out of your travels:

"

By Kiri Blakeley

The economy may have crashed the travel budget of the average American, but for many executives and business owners, frequent travel is still a necessity.

Most professionals say they are shifting to thrift, trimming their travel schedules, switching to cheaper destinations and hunting for bargains. But when you have to hop on a plane at a moment's notice, or take regular 14-hour flights from New York to Tokyo, there is only so much one can compromise on price and comfort.

Chalk it up to experience: Many of these executives have become travel experts, with the kind of know-how only true corporate nomads can obtain.

ForbesWoman spoke with 10 female executives from a wide array of industries for tips on what makes their exhaustive travel schedules less costly, more productive and even — dare we say it — fun.

Los Angeles-based shoe designer Taryn Rose, who travels once or twice a month on business to New York, Paris or Milan, says that using a high-end travel agent is well worth a $50 transaction fee (international fees range from $75 to $200).

Rose's agent, Lucie Fattal of Westside Travel in Beverly Hills, Calif., can negotiate deals for first-class flights and luxury hotels and properties, and can also book last-minute emergency flights. "She's been everywhere and knows all the managers and staff," says Rose.

Travelers who can't get someone like Fattal — who comes only by referral — can still use tricks of the trade: Many airlines offer priority upgrades for customers who travel over 100,000 air miles.

Jewelry designer Lorraine Schwartz swears by her American Express Centurion (or "black") card, which has given her access to upgrades on some airlines, hotel amenities like upgrades to suites, late checkouts and concierge service or complimentary car rentals.

A new concept of children flying

Have you always wondered if children should be given better conditions when they decide to travel by plane? If that's the case, then you will be glad to know that an increasing number of people are now claiming that airlines should pay more attention to that matter. Below is another msnbc.com article explaining you the whole story:

"

By IndependentTraveler.com staff

A father watched as his 11-year-old son Seth embarked on a flight alone to visit family. Seeing Seth walk down the runway, he went home, assuming his son would arrive safely. Six hours later, he discovered Seth had walked off the plane before departure. He left the airport, stopped at a gas station for directions and trotted 30 miles along an interstate to his home town.

If you are allowing your children to fly alone, be sure to take every necessary precaution to ensure their safety. Millions of children fly alone each year, the majority without incident. But Seth's case should be a warning to parents: Be sure you and your child are prepared for the trip.

Unaccompanied minors
Children ages 5-14 who travel without a parent or guardian are known as "unaccompanied minors." Many airlines will not allow children who are under 7 to make connections at all, but in the event a minor is old enough to change planes, they will probably be assisted by airline personnel and a fee of $75-$100 will be charged. Some airlines, Southwest for example, will not allow any minor (5-11) to change planes. On US Airways, a child must be at least 15 years old to take a flight with a connection.

If you intend to send an unaccompanied minor by plane (with or without a connection), you will be required to fill out a form detailing the child's name, age, medical considerations and other relevant information. Upon arrival, children will be escorted from the aircraft by a flight attendant and released to the person named by you prior to departure.

In addition, you will have to agree that the airline is not taking on any special responsibility of guardianship during the flight. Legally, an unaccompanied minor is treated in the same way as an adult passenger.

General age guidelines
Airline rules vary, but here's a good idea of what to expect on domestic flights:

Children ages 1-4 may fly only when accompanied by an adult. A child must be at least 5 to fly alone.

Are you a fan of Frank Lloyd?

When considering the houses that you admire the most, which are the first ones that come to your mind as your favorite ones? Personally, I would say that Frank Lloyd is definitely one of the most talented persons that I have seen in the business so far, making it absolutely mandatory that you read the msnbc.com article below to see how you can have a closer look at all his work:

"

By CARRIE ANTLFINGER

MILWAUKEE - Taliesin opens for the season in April, and officials there expect big crowds, despite the recession. Or maybe because of the recession.

The number of visitors to Frank Lloyd Wright's home in Spring Green, about 120 miles west of Milwaukee, increased 10 percent from 2007 to 2008, after flat attendance the two previous years.

Advanced reservations are up 65 percent over this time last year, said Carol Johnson, president of the nonprofit Taliesin Preservation Inc. Gift shop sales were up about 10 percent, she said.

But Taliesin West, Wright's winter home and studio in Scottsdale, Ariz., saw a drop in tour attendance by nearly 15 percent and gift shop sales by 4 percent last year.

Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation President Phil Allsopp said he suspects part of the difference is tourists tend to fly to Arizona because big cities are so distant. People can drive from Milwaukee and Chicago to Spring Green in three or four hours.

Allsopp called the interest in Taliesin "fabulous."

"We really can't figure out why, but we're are not complaining about it," he said in a recent phone interview from his office in Scottsdale.

The foundation operates Taliesin in Spring Green and Taliesin West, does student outreach programs and runs the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture and the Frank Lloyd Wright Archives.

The importance of bronze plaques

While traveling all around the world, I realized that one of the most important things in life are definitely the memories that we have of those that we have always loved and who are now gone, the memories that we keep about the heroes in our lives and also the memories of those who have always done their best in order to make us feel special!

Keeping this in mind, when you try to make a good memory of those persons that you have always admired, you often end up not knowing what to do when they pass away and so you think you are the only one in that situation. As a matter of fact, my friend Bill recently lost her beloved English teacher at school who he has always admired and who has always helped him and he really had no idea of which grave marker he would be choosing and also what he would be writing on it! Fortunately, all of you who ever end up facing a similar situation now have the chance to have a look at these Bronze Markers And Plaques which will last for centuries and with the help of their website you can even have a more precise idea of what you will be writing on the plaque as you will be given some special advice from people who regularly deal with those situations. Personally, I will be using the website to which I have linked above whenever I need to get a bronze plaque in order to express my admiration for someone who is no longer amongst us.

So, would you also like to buy some new bronze plaques or similar plaques? If that’s the case, then you definitely need to have a look at the website above and see what that company can do for you.

Traveling may often surprise us...

Do you honestly think that you have seen everything and there is nothing else that airlines can do in order to surprise you? Below is another msnbc.com article which will definitely make your opinion change as you will hear about the amazing tale of a man who just wanted to rush to the bathroom:

"

ATLANTA - A man rushing to get to the restroom on an international Delta Air Lines flight has been charged with assault, accused of twisting a flight attendant's arm.

Joao Correa of Concord, Ohio, says he had a bathroom emergency but his path was blocked by a beverage cart during the March 28 flight from Honduras to Atlanta. He asked if he could use the lavatory in business class, but was told no, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution newspaper.

Federal Aviation Administration policy requires passengers on international flights to use the restroom in their seating class.

Authorities say the 43-year-old man is accused of pulling and twisting the flight attendant's arm, the newspaper said. He was arrested when the plane landed in Atlanta and charged with assault.

Correa was released after two nights in jail, pending a hearing.

Sending a special postcard

As a traveler who spends a lot of time away from home and the people that I love the most, I recognize the important role that postcards play in our lives as the best way of expressing our feelings when we are away and we need something to substitute our voice when trying to pass a message…

Keeping this in mind, I would personally consider that the best place for us to find the ideal postcard to send to someone special is definitely vistaprint.ca and that’s something that you can confirm by having a look at the website to which I have linked just above. In fact, on that website users are given the chance to upload their own styles or you may prefer to browse the existing ones, making sure that there are plenty of possibilities when you finally decide to send the postcard to that special person in your life! Personally, I believe that we should use our own style in each postcard meaning that I would add my own photos and designs to every single postcard that I would be sending there. Moreover, I would try to use different colors for the background and for the words based on who I am going to send them to… Not long ago, I decided to send a postcard to my beautiful fiancée and I managed to notice that she has really loved the photos that I have uploaded to the postcard and how I matched the colors of the postcard with those words… Plus, I also wrote a nice poem on the right side of the postcard right next to an amazing rose, giving it a special meaning.

So, would you also like to send some postcards to impress someone that you admire? If that is something that you would like to do, then you definitely need to have a look at the website above and remember to upload your own design so that the receiver can always tell who sent it by having a look at the particular style of the postcard.

The secrets behind airport body scans

Do you plan to travel anytime soon by plane? If that's the case, then you will almost certainly have to pass trough the airport body scan before you can continue your travel... In fact, do you know how it all works and would you like to know more about the secrets behind it? Read the article below from msnbc.com and discover more:

"

By Jeremy Hsu

New airport security scanners could become a popular alternative to body searches, but have also prompted some privacy concerns.

Whole-body imaging technologies can see through clothing to reveal metallic and non-metallic objects, including weapons or plastic explosives. They also reveal a person's silhouette and the outlines of underwear.

That hasn't stopped security officials from implementing them. The U.S. Transportation Security Agency (TSA) started using whole-body imaging at six airports this year, and plans are in the works to expand it to airports in several more U.S. cities later this year.

The TSA has tested two technologies, including "millimeter wave" (MMW) technology which bounces radio-frequency waves off people to construct a 3-D image within a few seconds. TSA also temporarily leased four "backscatter" units which use X-ray scanning, although the MMW method is currently faster.

Early this year, TSA began implementing MMW as a primary screening technology next to metal detectors at airports in San Francisco, Miami, Albuquerque, Tulsa, Salt Lake City and Las Vegas.

Airports in 20 U.S. cities, such as JFK in New York City and LAX in Los Angeles, have used or plan to use MMW tech this year. Other countries have also begun using or evaluating MMW for airport screening, including the UK, Netherlands, Japan and Thailand.

The MMW and backscatter scans intentionally blur facial features, and the security officer viewing images sits in a remote location where he or she cannot identify the passengers, said Lara Uselding, a TSA spokesperson. She added that the systems also delete scanned images after the viewings, and have "zero storage capability."

That has not stopped privacy advocates from asking how much passengers may unwittingly reveal in whole-body imaging.

"Body scanners produce graphic images of travelers' bodies and are an assault on their essential dignity," said Barry Steinhardt, director of the ACLU's Technology and Liberty Project. "The safeguards announced by the TSA do not convince us that the technology is acceptable, and we question the supposed voluntary nature of these scanners."
