Do you normally take the kids with you when you travel?

Do you love to travel all around the world? If you have kids, sometimes it can be extremely difficult to take them with you because them don't like every destination that we pick! In fact, despite the fact that it is extremely difficult to take them with us, there are still some interesting places where we can take them as you may see by reading the msnbc.com article just below:
"
SINGAPORE - They're probably the most high-maintenance companions any traveler will ever have, but a new guide aims to take the pain out of vacationing with children and giving their parents a break, too.
Lonely Planet has completely revised its "Travel with Children" guidebook, which was first published in 1985, reissuing it this month with a list of kid-friendly destinations and activities, as well as tips to ensure parents stay sane.
Coordinating author Brigitte Barta said while people may not be traveling as much, or as far, as they used to due to the global economic crisis, families still need holidays, which, with some planning, can be a great bonding experience.
"There's no doubt that traveling with kids is very different from traveling without them. It's a lot more tiring and demanding, and holidays can be harder work than staying at home. But the benefits of family travel are enormous," Barta said."We're all more mobile and more prepared to travel to the other side of the world, even for a couple of weeks' vacation. Seasoned travelers, of which there are now so many, see no reason to stop just because they've had children."
The book features guides to what Lonely Planet believes are the world's 35 most child-friendly countries ranging from the obvious — Australia and the United States for example — to places many people wouldn't really consider, such as Syria, Israel and the Palestinian territories.
There is a comprehensive section on how to decide where to go, the types of holidays that would suit different families as well as a games you can play with children on the road."Putting lots of effort into planning really helps," Barta says. "But it's also important to approach it all with the spirit of adventure and to build in flexibility so that when things do go wrong, as they inevitably will, you can problem-solve."
Barta predicted that for many families, overseas travel may fall out of favor for now, due to the expenses involved, adding that many people will probably vacation closer to home, if not at home in the next couple of years.
"It's likely that, for the next few years at least, families will spend their holidays exploring their own backyard, so to speak — camping seems to be the new black. Perhaps there will be a revival of campervans and caravans," she said.
Barta's first trip was at the age of six months, when she traveled with her parents from New Zealand to Naples on an ocean liner and has been on countless vacations with her daughter.Her tips for families traveling with children include:
- Travel really light;
- Choose accommodations with a balcony or lounge where parents can hang out once the kids are in bed and also somewhere with a garden where the kids can let off steam;
- Involve children in the planning of the trip, encourage them to research the destination and also to keep a record of their travels and collect souvenirs;
- Most importantly, take it easy. Kids are useless at getting ready in a hurry and they hate rushing. Travel with children needs to be slow travel.

The best restaurants in NYC

New York city is surely one of the most visited places in the world but there are still many travelers wondering where should they have dinner while they are on the city. Personally, I believe that NYC has some of the most luxurious restaurants in the whole world as you may discover by reading the msnbc.com article just below:
"
By Anthony Grant
Many visitors to the Big Apple seldom stray from the city’s Midtown district or (or if they do, it’s not principally to eat). That’s not to knock its myriad attractions, famous restaurants among them, but there’s more to the Big Apple’s dining scene than the tried, true and traditional. The culinary dividends of venturing south of Times Square and even—gasp!—to its outer boroughs can be high indeed, if you know where to look.
In a city which has 18,500 restaurants (according to NYC & Company), there’s no excuse for not expanding your dining horizons. But the real secret to a memorable experience is to follow the buzz instead of the herd. In other words, shun the over-the-top, Las Vegas-sized restaurants (with the exception of the surprisingly sophisticated Buddakan) in favor of smaller but more interesting digs, whether that means up on Tenth Avenue or down in the far West Village
The food is Alpine hearty and the mood is New York light at Trestle on Tenth, where chef-owner Ralf Kuettel brings his Swiss-influenced American cuisine to an appreciative, insider Chelsea crowd.

Would you like to know which tourists are ranked as world’s worst?

When considering our personal experience, we would definitely say that there are many tourists all around the world who don't respect the basic rules while they are traveling. In fact, a recent study concluded that French tourists are considered to be the world's worst and we should really avoid following their example. Below is another msnbc.com article telling you all the story with further detail:
"
PARIS - French tourists are the worst in the world, coming across as bad at foreign languages, tight-fisted and arrogant, according to a survey of 4,500 hotel owners across the world.
They finish in last place in the survey carried out for internet travel agency Expedia by polling company TNS Infratest, which said French holidaymakers don't speak local languages and are seen as impolite.
"It's mainly the fact that they speak little or no English when they're abroad, and they don't speak much of the local language," Expedia Marketing Director Timothee de Roux told radio station France Info.
"The French don't go abroad very much. We're lucky enough to have a country which is magnificent in terms of its landscape and culture," he said, adding that 90 percent of French people did their traveling at home."So when they're on holiday they can be a bit stressed, they're not used to things, and this can lead them to be demanding in a way which could be seen as a certain arrogance."
French tourists are also accused of generally spending less than other nationalities when abroad.De Roux said the French, not accustomed to leaving large tips at home where a service charge is automatically levied on restaurant bills, can seem "tight-fisted" compared with other nationalities.
The Japanese ranked top of the Best Tourist survey, with the British and the Germans judged the best of the Europeans.
But French tourists received some consolation for their poor performance, finishing third after the Italians and British for dress sense while on holiday.

Turtles caused the delay of some flights

Have you ever imagined that turtles could be the reason of the delays on some flights? Well, it may seem too strange but the truth is that they managed to delay some flights on the John F. Kennedy International Airport as you may discover by reading the msnbc.com article just below:
"
NEW YORK - A runway at John F. Kennedy International Airport was shut down briefly Wednesday morning after at least 78 turtles emerged from a nearby bay and crawled onto the tarmac.
Grounds crews eventually rounded up the wayward reptiles and deposited them back in the brackish water farther from airport property, but not before the incident disrupted JFK's flight schedule and contributed to delays that reached nearly 1 1/2 hours.
"Apparently, this is something the tower has experienced before," said Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Jim Peters. "I guess it's the season for spawning."
The invasion began unfolding, slowly, at around 8:30 a.m., when an American Eagle flight crew reported seeing three turtles while taxiing out for departure. Before long, a chorus of pilots was radioing the tower to report turtles either on the end of a runway that juts out into the water, or approaching on the grass.The FAA halted flights for about 12 minutes shortly before 9 a.m. while some of the turtles were cleared away, then quit using the runway entirely after getting new reports of "massive numbers" of turtles on the tarmac, Peters said.
Port Authority of New York and New Jersey spokesman John Kelly said airport crews gathered up the turtles in about 35 minutes.He identified the turtles as Diamondback terrapins, a species common to Jamaica Bay, which surrounds the airport. The turtles appeared to be about 8 inches long and weigh 2 to 3 pounds each.
Jets hit turtles a few times each year at JFK, usually in the final days of June or earliest days in July, according to the FAA's wildlife strike database. There have been no recent reports of the strikes causing any damage to an airplane.

Choose your luggage with style

While you travel all around the world, it is extremely important that you always show off your style and class! In fact, luggage tends to play an important role when people try to get a first impression of you. Below is another msnbc.com article showing you wich the best options for you are and why:
"
Aboard a crowded Italian train last fall, I discovered I had taken a polished Milanese businesswoman’s seat by mistake, which meant leaving my humdrum, over-packed suitcase in one compartment to hunt down a patch of open floor space in another. When I returned moments later, my bag had been stolen—something that never would have happened had I been able to just sit on it.
With a little foresight, I’d have brought along a ZÜCA Pro, the most fantastically functional bag because it both fits comfortably in an airplane’s overhead bin and serves as a chair. A sturdy seat that can support 300 pounds without a hitch is integrated into the bag’s aluminum alloy frame, while inside there are removable ballistic nylon packing pouches that stack like drawers. The Sport model has a dual wheel system that climbs stairs. Which in elevator-challenged Euro train stations, would also have been nice.
Despite the advent of restrictive government-imposed regulations that make it tempting to check it all (or chuck it all) instead of cramming liquid and gel in a plastic bag for all to see, carry-ons are the way to go. Reason number two: reduced waiting upon arrival. Reason number one? Carry-on bags have, demonstrably, never been cooler. Even Samsonite.
Obviously, it’s always easier to travel light, and carry-ons can take the lug out of luggage faster than you can say “butler.” This was never truer than today, when the use of high-tech materials and innovative design has produced a veritable revolution in carry-on luggage style and functionality.To comply with carriers’ and security organizations’ rules on the size of carry-on baggage and size and weight of checked bags, luggage companies are redesigning bags, using new, lightweight materials and frames. And restrictions on the size of bottles of liquids travelers can carry onto flights have created somewhat of a cottage industry: Some bags (the ZÜCA Pro among them), now come with a TSA-compliant, clear, flexible, plastic pouch.
A carry-on bag must by definition fit in an airplane’s overhead bin, meaning it cannot exceed certain dimensions. The ones typical to most airlines are 9 inches (depth) by 14 inches (width) by 22 inches (height), or 45 linear inches. However, with the exception of obviously smaller bags, it’s always a good idea to check with individual airlines for dimension requirements and weight restrictions. These vary not just domestically vs. internationally but also airline by airline. Aircraft size itself can be a factor in what you’re allowed to bring on board, too.
Most—but not all—carry-ons today are “roll-aboards,” with pull-out trolley handles that enable you to wheel the suitcase. (The style originated with a Northwest Airlines pilot in the late 1980s.) But otherwise, it’s anything goes—especially in terms of the way a bag looks. Our selection of cool carry-ons was made on the basis of toughness, layout (from outside pockets to interior compartments), and style.Cory Depiero, head of business development at high-end travel boutique chain Flight 001, also emphasizes the fashion and functionality combination. He says when scoping out the hottest new luggage that “we’re looking for functionality that also takes into account fashion, trends, appearance and style, and staying ahead of other luggage dealers.”
It’s no surprise that Mandarina Duck, the legendary luggage line founded by Paolo Trento in Bologna in 1977, is one of the top-selling brands at store Flight 001, but that’s not all the store (with outposts from New York to Dubai) has on offer. There are sleek Samonsites made with cutting edge ballistic nylon and polycarbonate materials, marvelous shiny and sturdy pieces from Japanese designer Hideo Wakamatsu, and the latest looks from hot German brands Titan and Rimowa.
Michele Marini Pittenger, president of the Travel Goods Association, a trade group of luggage manufacturers, suppliers and retailers, suggests you first determine what purpose your bag will have to serve. Is it for business or vacation, for an overnight or weekend trip, or a month-long sojourn? Will it need to accommodate electronics? Will it be used for airplane or car travel, for commuting to work by public transportation, or for walking?“The answers to all those questions will determine what type of bag to look for, and you can then take a look at what style and colors are available, and which you prefer,” she said.
If the consumer must navigate a sea of choices, at least he or she can take comfort in the fact that, at least at higher-end stores like Flight 001, the goods have essentially been pre-screened. “We look at every detail, from durability to affordability, and we ask if this is a bag for a frequent or occasional traveler,” says Depiero. “Urban sophisticated is the basis on which we select merchandise.”
